Welcome to The Mellin

The G.L.Mellin Tournament is a Public Schools six-a-side golf competition contested annually between the second sixteen schools from the Halford Hewitt.

Founded in 1960 by T.R.Parry and aptly named after G.L. (Susie) Mellin, the founder of the Halford Hewitt.

Played every year in late June or early July at the wonderful, heathland course that is West Hill Golf Club in Surrey.

Over three days, three separate competitions take place:

  • The G.L. Mellin Salver - for those over 55 by first day of the Tournament
  • The Peter Burles Salver - for those over 65 by first day of the Tournament
  • The Bunny Millard Salver - for those over 75 by first day of the Tournament

The competing schools are:

Aldenham, Bedford, Bradfield, Cheltenham, Cranleigh, Downside, Felsted, Forest, Haileybury, Hurstpierpoint, Lancing, Loretto, Mill Hill, Oundle, Sherborne, and Shrewsbury.
